This weekend (July 28,29, 2007) we backpacked over Music Pass and then up to Sand Creek Lakes . . . specifically, the upper one. The scenery is beautiful as is typical of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Joining Joshua, Luke, Paul and myself were Jeff and son Zach, and Steve and son Kyle.

The fishing was outrageous. Never have I seen and caught so many large cut-throat trout. We caught all of them on Adams or Elk Hair Caddis flies using a spin-cast reel and bungee bubbles.
No fish stories here. The trout were large
Luke caught some nice ones
Paul reeled in a nice one as well
Joshua met the challenge the following day
It did rain quite a bit on Saturday afternoon and made getting the fire started a little difficult, but we managed to get a roaring fire and cook our catch.
It’s tough to get all of them to smile at the camera (left to right), Paul, Luke, Kyle, Zach, Joshua and Jeff
The four wheel drive road in and out was and adventure all by itself.
The road had one “high clearance” section
A great trip.
